Overview

After a series of sell out experiences in Uganda, The Tribe is heading to beautiful Zanzibar for a packed Christmas and New Year experience in December which includes brunches, pool parties, beach days, boat days, island take overs and the ultimate safari on the Serengeti. Places are strictly limited on all Tribe Experiences and for this very special festive experience we are taking over two beach front locations in the beautiful village of Bwejuu. Our two amazing venues, Tiki Beach Club and Mustapha's Place, are within walking distance of each other. If you want to wake up in a coral-walled bungalow, surrounded by vibrant bougainvillea and fragrant frangipani, and walk down to the breathtaking turquoise ocean and soft white sands of Bwejuu beach, then Mustapha's is the place for you. If you want to wake up to the relaxing sounds of the Indian Ocean and let the turquoise waves of Bwejuu flow as you connect with what makes you happy, the authentically inspired beach bungalows and suites at Tiki Beach Club & Resort are for you.

Hosts

We've been travelling to Uganda, specifically the Kabale region, for over five years where we've carried out an immense amount of work in the local community. Our team on the ground is run by Martin, who was born and raised in Kabale, and went on to become one of the best tour guides in Lake Bunyonyi.

Kai

Kai

European club promoter Kai first travelled to Uganda in 2015. On this first trip he went on a boat tour of Lake Bunyonyi with local tour guide Martin. This would be the start of an incredible friendship. Kai has returned to Uganda many times since, taking multiple groups of volunteers to build and maintain The ONE LOVE Project and other community projects and is ready to spread the love to other parts of the continent, starting with Zanzibar.

Martin

Asiimwe Martin is so much more than our tour guide. Since his first meeting with Kai in 2015, Martin has become a good friend and trusted business partner of The Tribe, providing constant on the ground support throughout our many times in Uganda. He has a Diploma in Tourism and Wildlife Management and has been hosting safari trips in Uganda and Rwanda for over six years. We wouldn't go to Tanzania, or anywhere else, without him!

The Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) is the official currency for the United Republic of Tanzania. You can also use US Dollars (USD). There are very few ATMs in Zanzibar and most of them are located in Stone Town, at the airport and near the ferry terminal.

We advise you to bring British Pounds (GBP) or USD and exchange for Tanzanian Shilling's at the airport or withdraw TZS from the ATMs at the airport before you head to the resort. You will be able to exchange more cash at the hotels and visit local ATMs in Paje as you wish.

In Zanzibar in December, the average air temperature ranges from 32.3 °C (90.1 °F) during the day to 23.8 °C (74.8 °F) at night. There are 12 days of rain on average, where the rainfall is 127 mm (4.99 in). Temperatures vary hugely with altitude and location, but it's usually a fine, clear sky and sunny weather – it's a great time to visit Zanzibar.

Zanzibar is a muslim archipelago. Whilst the dress code is relaxed in the hotels, you should cover shoulders and knees when visiting Stone Town and the local villages.
